WATCHPOD Watch Case Review

Since starting this site, I’ve managed to collect a fair amount of watches. And of course, I always want to take at least a few of them along when I travel – it’s nice to switch up which watch I’m wearing if I’m gone for a few days. My solution to this for the last couple years has been to stick them in their own pocket in my backpack and hope they don’t scratch each other. Definitely not the best plan.

Just in time for my most recent dive trip up to British Columbia I was contacted by someone from Watchpod Cases – offering to send me some of their inexpensive watch cases for free in exchange for an honest review. Perfect timing I told them, send them on over! I’ve had them for a while now, put them through some abuse, and now feel like I can offer up an opinion.

The WATCHPOD is designed to offer a lot of protection while staying compact and minimalist. They come in either single cases or as a three watch block. With the single case you have a choice of outer material – either a black denier nylon or brown faux leather. The three watch case comes only in black, with a soft lycra material on the outside.

The design is simple, with a clam shell shape and indented center. The center part both prevents the watch from shifting around, and keeps the bracelet away from the case back.

The inside of the case has a soft lining all throughout to ensure there’s nothing that can leave a mark on your expensive time piece.

Using the WATCHPOD is dead simple. You place the watch on it’s side, with the dial facing forward and the strap or bracelet wrapped around the center indentation, and then just zip it closed. Since the WATCHPOD is a one size fits all, all but the largest watches will shift around some if you shake it. 

The WATCHPOD is supposed to be able to fit up to a 50mm watch, so should work with just about anything, unless you’re a fan of humongous Invictas. Below I have the biggest watch in my own collection inside, the Timex T2N958, which comes in at 46mm diameter. It fit just fine.

Each WATCHPOD comes with a small microfiber cloth to help keep your watch looking nice. It’s not anything extravagant, but is a nice touch.

The faux leather WATCHPOD has a white interior which offers a nice color contrast from the brown outside. Personally I prefer the look of the black single case, the denier fabric has almost a carbon fiber look to it.

The three watch case is honestly just about perfect for me – it seems like I always want to take along three of my watches when I’m traveling. Even while at home I’ve been keeping whichever part of my collection isn’t getting rotated through very often inside of the WATCHPOD cases. I don’t have any kind of dedicated watch box yet, so these have been working great.

Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with these inexpensive cases. I’ve tossed them around plenty, and they can stand up to any reasonable abuse. Just don’t run over your expensive Rolex with a bulldozer OK?
