I’ve long been a fan of Victorinox’s (the Swiss Army Knife company) I.N.O.X. line of watches. They’re rugged, dependable watches that also look really cool. But Victorinox has always only made them available with quartz movements – until now. They’ve just released the Victorinox I.N.O.X. Mechanical.

While the new I.N.O.X. Mechanical doesn’t come with a diver’s timing bezel, it still has 200 meters of water resistance. And I like it, so I’m blogging about it.

What do I like about these? The shape of the bezel has always appealed to me, and I really like the minimalist design of the dials.

To show off the inclusion of the ETA 2824-2 automatic mechanical movement, the Victorinox I.N.O.X. Mechanical features a lovely display case back, which I believe has a sapphire window. They haven’t done much to decorate the movement, only including the Swiss Army logo near the center of the rotor.

The guilloche pattern on the dial is designed to mimic the handle of a Swiss Army Knife, and adds some nice depth to the face of the watch.

The strap on the I.N.O.X. Mechanical is also unique – a combination of wood and leather. Victorinox is claiming this is an environmentally friendly strap option. If you hate it, no need to worry – you can also order the watch with a stainless steel bracelet.

The I.N.O.X. Mechanical is currently available with either a black or blue dial, and the choice between the wood strap or stainless steel bracelet for either.

I should note that this isn’t the first time Victorinox has produced a mechanical watch – they have quite a few in their line-up.

They even have a full featured diver with an ETA 2824-2 movement, the Maverick Mechanical. It doesn’t have the same bezel as the I.N.O.X. line, but is still a cool looking watch so be sure to check that one out.
